Garage ADUs solve a specific lot constraint: the requirement — either from a municipality or from the homeowner’s own need — for dedicated parking. Many Dane County municipalities require one off-street parking space for an ADU. A detached garage ADU satisfies that requirement while adding the dwelling unit above it. The G-510 model is also useful on lots where a second standalone structure would be too large relative to lot coverage limits but a single two-story structure fits within those limits. The design separates the garage level from the ADU with a proper floor-ceiling assembly — the ADU is fully independent from the vehicle space below.
Lots where parking is a requirement or priority, two-story structures within height limits, maximizing lot use with a single structure.
